Another’s great port, this was a tender port which went well - we booked via the ship - coach trip to Christchurch and spend 4 hours walkabout/shopping. Coach trip fantastic, great informative driver and the views around the bays great. Lot of earthquake repair work going on but there are trams and easy to walk around. Found great pub the OGB (old government building) had a great lunch and a few local beers - try it you wont be disappointed.

I did not go ashore as have been to Akaroa before. This is a tender port. But just sitting on deck looking at the view is a fantasic way to spend a day.

Went to see the penguin conservation colony which was a scary drive but the driver knew the road well. stunning scenery and very interesting. Then in the afteroon we took the double decker bus tour. Both really worth doing.

Like most of New Zealand, Akaroa is breathtaking. We loved this quaint French town, but with two cruise ships in the harbour (Golden Princess and Silver Muse) it was very crowded.
