Akaroa was a stop on our cruise not too long after Christchurch had suffered from the earthquake. It's a small French influenced town where alot of the locals still speak French as a first language. The gardens and houses are all decorated and blooming with flowers and it is obvious the locals pride themselves in their beautiful looking town. Take a walk up to the light house for a fantastic panoramic photo of the Bay. And if your feeling adventurous and up for it the Dolphin Experience with the Hector's Nose Dolphins ranks up there with some of the best memories I have ever had. A truly remarkable experience - they are the worlds smallest dolphins and an endangered species. After this experience I purchased a GoPro just because it was surreal. I purchased the photos package and figured I was a 1/4 of the way I may as well get a GoPro for future trips. A must do! Tick it off your bucket list!

Beautiful place and our favourite port so far. Scenery is so picturesque and the cruise around the harbour looking at dolphins, seals and penguins was very enjoyable.

Tender Port. Tender was fine, was nervous but all good. Sat up top. Didnt spend anytime in Akaroa, had friends meet us and take us for the day around christchurch and surrounds. Scenery as usual outstanding

Nice little town. We didn’t go into Christchurch as we had been there a few years before when we drove around the islands The weather was horrible but we still walked around as much as we could. Had a nice lunch outside under a canopy. This is a sweet town for a quiet day off the ship day. Lots of beautiful plants and flowers

We started our day in Akaroa with a harbor cruise to see the dolphins. What an amazing experience. After the tour, we just walked the beautiful town. We absolutely adored this port. We did find the prices to be much higher here than other ports. Our lunch bill was ridiculous for mediocre food.

has a nice small town. Small shops can walk around and enjoy the day just watching people walk around or just a stroll around this town. take a picture of this sign as it says you have proof you went to this town ☺️
