Not really a port call - just embarkation point. Industrial dock with a makeshift passenger terminal. The eembarkation process was fine, though. No long waits or unneessary processes to go through.

Riots caused the ship to cancel all excursions. We didn't disembark. Those who did had issues with security, riots and traffic.

Nothing to do unless you go to Valparaíso or santiago. Take the bus. Walk to the station use senior discount no more that 5 dollars. Then use uber in Santiago or take bus to Valparaíso. Go to San Cristobal in Santiago. Chile is a beautiful city. Especially el condes area

We didn’t visit the port itself but did a wonderful excursion through Priceline to the airport: Casablanca and the Coast.

The coordination of luggage and the tour route and stops were excellent in the wine region. Wine practices were explained and are a bit different than what is done in US. The bus tour into Santiago was another story. The guide kept asking people how we say things in English. Once or twice is okay to promote some interaction but it got irritating. Commentary about the areas tended to be a bit negative in describing areas that were not super upscale. Departed the tour at the airport. Our hotel was across the street. We assumed the people watching and helping with the luggage already on airport carts were HAL staff. The fellow even took the luggage on the airport cart to the hotel for us. He was gone before we could give him a gratuity.

This is a difficult narrow entrance to the port and depending on weather entrance or exit may be delayed. In our case the ship was not allowed to leave for two days, of which the truth the passengers may never know. The port authorities (whim)clearly must have had something to do with it.

Some distance between the port and Santiago. We had an excursion to the wine country and a driving tour of the city. Excellent.
