Ship had trouble getting clearance so we were late getting off ship and didn't have time to take a long tour. Punta Del Este is a resort town with modern hotels and apartment buildings. Not much to see. Get in line at least 45 minutes early for tender tickets if you want to be on 1st set of tenders.

We visited Punta del Este on our own. We saw some huge sea lions just at the port, waiting for fish scraps. We walked along the shoreline up to the Mano. We had a delicious parilla lunch in a restaurant in town. We did some shopping in a supermarket and visited other stores. The town was nice and clean. People were very friendly.

Think twice before choosing Punta as yout itinerary. Its not unusual to have huge waves near the cost that makes it impossible to use the safety boats
