This is a cargo port with limited options to get off the ship. I recommend Holland find a different port to spend a day. Disappointment.

The tale of two towns tour was a joke. We paid to see poverty, filth, shipping containers, the tour bus and guide as well as a stop at the hotel were the only decent part of the tour. Im sure that area must have something else to see!

The port is nothing much. The Rio Dulce is beautiful, but the full day excursion of Rio Dulce and Quirigua is too much.

Not much shopping, but the Mayan ruins excersion and the 3 hour boat ride were very good. We had a great time!

Took the waterfall tour. Since it was during the dry season, the the waterfalls had little to no water! The walk in the jungle going to and coming from the waterfalls was very interesting. No time to do any restaurants or shopping due to the length of time in port.

STC-002 was not as described - everyone felt it was only to raise money for the school which was not in session.

TERRIBLE. Nothing to do, You have to take a small boat to a town a couple miles away accesable only by boat OR you can take a big chance in this town and take a taxi tour like we did and see what poor third world country meaning is about. We were told by a band member on board that a few years ago a Doctor on another cruise line took a bike rental to the beach and never came back. We heard that AFTER we went into town. On an UP NOTE, the dock workers where the ship docks ( Frieght Dock ), a band / dancers from the local area and their families, all the taxis and even the local police were all at the dock when we left and gave us the best "Farewell" Bon Voyage Celebration I have ever seen anywhere. A bit of sweet sugar with al lot of salt.
