Ported at container ship yard, not much to look at. Had area right off ship to shop which was ok. We wanted to go to beach, but when asked taxi driver didn't feel to comfortable with it because he said we should watch our back if we go.

What a dumpy area. No shopping or swimming. Excursions were overpriced and nothing to really see. No AC anywhere.

This port did not look safe to be out away from the ship.

positively dreadful; an amazingly poor choice of ports, indicating some serious management problems.

We did the Hacienda Tijax excursion which gave a chance to see some of the countryside and an interesting rainforest hike.

Santo Tomas is not a destination in itself. You will need to book an excursion to go inland for sightseeing. It was the most expensive port for us.

Took the trolley through town. It is a very depressed area. Wouldn't feel safe walking the streets. Nothing else to do.
