Antigua is a great town to visit. We took the self-guided tour bus because we were meeting family there and we have been there before. Lake Atitlan is such a beautiful lake with the volcano behind it and such beautiful views. I didn't talk to anyone who had been on the Tikal excursion, but I have been there before and it is not to be missed.

Our excursion took us(in Antigua) to a monestary, still active where they make chocolate, and blankets and other cultural things, all the roads leading there (a1.5 hour ride) where bumpy and pothole filled. The ride back was completely smooth. We visited some of the shops and walked the streets to the beautiful architecture of the city. 👍🏼

Mostly a cargo port, however, we visited the visitor terminal, had lunch, watched some Iguanas show off. Very pleasant and enjoyed talking with the vendors. We especially enjoyed being outside, drinking the local beer, Gallo, and the pleasantly warm weather.

This was probably my favorite port. Antigua is so beautiful. We got to see an active volcano, we were there at the start of Lent and the town was full of people dressed in native dress. The colors were spectacular. The cobblestone streets were difficult and fun to walk on. Unfortunately I am not sure how many more people who read this review will get to see Antigua as the cruise lines are starting to remove it from their itineraries.
