It was hot in Panama. We were there on Palm Sunday and got to experience the crowd waving their palm leaves and following the cardinal to the service. It was very interesting.

Colon is a run down city. Excursion to the Embera indigenous tribe was disappointing. In spite of reading 12 -1 5 great reviews it was very touristy feeling. The Embera people were kind but it was it seems the focus was to sell cheap souvenirs that we'd seen everywhere (made in China) with a few items that may have been made by the tribe. This area is in drought so the canoes could not cross the river without people getting out to push. This was almost a 2 hour bus ride each way too which I was not expecting. The guide was very knowledgeable and shared a lot of information.

We got to see the locks and a movie on the history of the locks that was very interesting. We also traveled to Panama City which I am glad I got to see. It was unfortunate that it rained during the walking portion of this tour.

Took an excursion to the Miraflores and Auga Clara locks. Long ride on the bus, but very interesting seeing the Visitors Center presentations on old and new locks - and seeing the canal operate from land. We saw the Miraflores locks from the ship the next day, when going through.

Panama was beautiful! I loved everything about this port. We did the Embera Village tour, and it was fantastic… probably one of the best shore excursions I’ve ever experienced.

We just took a cab to to a local shopping mall - the area around the port was like a 3rd world war zone (busted, burned, wires hanging out of buildings, trash). The mall was interesting and enjoyable typical normal folks shopping experience. We did not feel like a longer more strenuous excursion
