We arranged for a private tour and saw the sites of the city and did some shopping. The wall and the fort are stunning given when they were built.

The port was lovely especially upon returning because you get to walk through an animal sanctuary filled with birds, monkeys and more. Our excursion was a tour of old cartagena, a folkloric dance show and shopping afterwards. The tour overall was great very informative and entertaining. The only thing that was a bit annoying was do to all the traffic (that can't be avoided) we were unable to go explore the city our own and do a shopping. Be warned that because of the poverty in colombia there are lots of vendors on street that can be pushy, there items are a lot cheaper than buying them at the port and you'll be helping someone out at the same time. But if decide not to buy from them just simply say no gracias they will leave you alone.

The ship docks in an industrial area, though there is a bird sanctuary within walking distance. We took a tour of the walled city. The most memorable part was when the guide left a couple of us in the bathroom in the middle of town. If Alena is your guide, stay close.

Very good. No problems. Enjoyed our excursion. However, as was pointed out in a previous review here,--watch out for the street vendors, (aka "The Welcoming Committee" ) they are over whelming, and if the Columbian govt. was smart they would try to do something about them, esp. since with (all) the excursions these national governments want the cruisers to come back for land vacations, and/or purchase vacation/retirement properties in these areas. The Navy Museum part of our tour was kind of a waste of time, as all the exhibit descriptors are in Spanish and we do not speak Spanish.
