Not sure how a country can regulate a swarm of very aggressive vendors except by energizing their economy to put more people to work with good paying jobs. Also the electric wires bringing electricity into the buildings, seems all to be gerryrigedm, yikes. I did the Folkloric dance tour as I am interested in seeing wht those dances look like, especially Cumbis as I wanted to know the gensis of it.

Our coffee-tasting excursion was a joke. There was supposed to be little walking. My husband barely made it from the bus to the coffee shop. Another couple was also having problems. The tour leader, who had his own disability, was visibly impatient with us. The coffee experience was just a barista extolling the value of his coffee over their rival, Juan Valdez. When we did the tasting many like the Juan Valdez better. How embarrassing! The tour leader arranged for a van to pick up the 2 couples with walking problems to take us to the bus which would take us to where the group was walking to where there was shopping. The woman who came with didn't speak English. The bus was not were it had been. When we got to it we boarded and the driver just sat there. He also didn't speak English. We sat for over an hour at which time the group came back having already gone shopping. What a waste of a day in such a beautiful city. TIP: There's a small zoo at the port. It's free. Our excursion bus let us off on one side of it (it's a ways from the ship) and told us there was a shuttle on the other side. There's also a good gift shop as well as a Juan Valdez shop where I got some good coffee to bring home.

Tour guide took us to a shop for 20 minutes then back on the bus. Another 10 to 12 minute ride. Disappointing by spending 45 minutes in a museum which the time there was way to long. After a long museum visit we went to another very small jewelry shop for a free small plastic cup of beer and a drawing for a piece of jewelry. Really! Tour only had about 10 mins. to get back on the bus. Disappointment as we did not really walk around to see old town and have a bit of free time to enjoy this old town center. Next time we will take no tours.

Did not like our guide. He was always in a hurry and twice he walked away without saying anything and we had a very difficult time finding him. There was a couple that was a little late getting back to the bus and he got on the bus, closed the door without counting the guest. We had to yell at him several times to stop and wait for the late couple. His name was something like Elmos.

Booked a half day with Dora the Explorer. Tous our Guide was very knowledgeable and made us feel very safe and had all the answers to all the questions our group had.

Picked the wrong tour. Best of Cartagena was boring. Not enough time to go up to the fort. But were dropped off at bottom to be mobbed by street vendors. Church and museum were fine. Inquisition museum was boring, waste of time. They had nothing on display. Time to look around on your own wasn't enough. Port might have been much better with a different excursion

The street vendors were too aggressive here. Nothing to do with the cruise ship.
