This place is full of life and friendly people. Go see the open markets because they are wonderful to see.I bought shoes for 10€ there. We were walking to the city, because taxi is way to expensive for a family.

We visited the temple and theatre at Segesta. The tour guide was awful and more interested in picking wild thyme from the mountainside and chatting on his mobile phone than relaying interesting facts about the 2 sites. It was a very hot day and lots of walking was required along with a shuttle bus. Upon returning from the tour, we had a brief walk around the town but found it dirty, scruffy and expensive when looking at the prices in stores etc. I appreciate that covid has impacted the area greatly but the piles of rubbish everywhere was disheartening.

Once you get out of the port area it's a beautiful city, it was several years ago we visited and at that time you could walk off, through the port into the main city. Love Cathedral and many monuments to marvel. Agian back then close to the dock was a bit shabby may have changed now, if it has and I was visiting now it would be 5*

Loved it here. We walked the city and went to market. We ended up getting pizza at a little cafe in town and it was great. We stopped at the Grand hotel bar for a drink as well.

Visit the Castle and the Cathedral, which are a few blocks away, it takes a 5 minutes walk from one to another. If you can, take the little tourist train around the city center, it will give you a good idea of how nice Palermo is.
