We did a walking tour and frankly our tour guide seemed to be having a bad day. She pretty much dropped us off in the middle of town and the tour did not cover some of the sights that were advertised. We ended up leaving the tour getting a coffee at a small barristo and making our own way back to the ship.

Overshadowed by covid and racism.

This was the last port instead of the first port.

We arrived 5 days early to enjoy Basel. It is a lovely city. We also hired a guide not with Viking to take us on a one-day wine tour in Alsace.

Would have preferred to do the regular paced tour as we missed the Town hall on the slower paced tour and have see it in our break.

Basel is a nice town. It seemed business oriented.

Unfortunately we did not get an opportunity to tour this port. We arrived from our Lake Como excursion late in the afternoon, in time for an embarkation meeting. We did stop at Lake luzerne but all the shops except a couple of chocolate shops were closed. Marthon going on so we could not get close up to the lake. We did have a nice lunch, but we only had about 20 minutes of free time to explore anything.

We saw very little of Basel on the way to the airport. It's right near the French border. If you want to see more of the city or the Swiss Alps, you can opt for the cruise extension.
