Basel was nice. came a day early enjoyed Marktplatz area amd food and festivals was good. everything walking or tram amd Hotel Basel was wonderful and great area. So fun to wonder around and hotel provided mobility tickets amd full breakfast

Beautiful town, took an excursion to Lucerne, one of the most beautiful cities I have ever been to.

The hotel Viking uses is in an industrial area, way far from any site seeing or shopping.

The ship does not dock in Basel, it stops in a run down spot near waterside bars where bottles and trash are everywhere. They gave us Basel maps but our docking place wasn't on the map. We wanted to walk around but there was nothing to see and Basel was too far.

Our first We opted for the Highlights of the Alps Tour. It was a very nice drive to the Village ( Brienz) with breathtakingly beautiful views of the lake & the Alps. There was Not much to do in the village since we were there during Easter break & it was Earlier in the morning. Many shops weren't open. We continued to train station to travel to the Alps. That was fun! Our Tour guide was Excellent! She explained the History & kept us all together! The Alps was Beautiful...you could play in the Snow a little & shop in the gift shop...that's it. We were given lunch...Meh. All Carbs, potatoes & Pasta lots of cheese. But the cafe staff were nice & efficient. Then back in the train & drove thru a more touristy town but didnt stop. If you want to sight see the Alps ...then go!

Ship leaves from Basel on a Sunday and most everything is closed. The dock was right in the city which was a good location.
