We used ItalyTours here as well. Another whirlwind but less so. We had time to shopping in Florence and an hour or so to walk around the Leaning Tower of Pisa (that's more than enough time).

Took MSC trip to Florence (we had been to Pisa several years ago). The tour guide was excellent. Liked the combination of guided walking tour and time on our own.

Make sure if you take the train to see Pisa first. We chose to go to Florence and we didn't have enough time to see Pisa

Pisa was great. Livorno not so much. It seemed to be an industrial port city, I would be happy to miss.

Easy. Florence. The guide just walked us from the bus to the square and then left us for the remainder. Also, she could not control her voice level on the bus and it was at high volume for the bus tour, even after the group asked her to lower it.

We chose a ship excursion- Florence on your own. Information on the bus ride was given and when we arrived we were free to explore on our own. I love Florence and we had a great day.
