See Haifa. Pyramids, Sphinx, and more Pyramids. Camels and dirt. Traffic, traffic, traffic! The three hour plus bus ride (each way!) gives you no time to catch up on sleep as the sights and sounds going on outside the bus are definitely one of the "must see's".

Super to see the pyramids but the "tourist trinket" vendors made it almost impossible to view the sites. We were constantly harrassed by young kids and adults wanting to sell us something or to take a picture. Made the whole visit very uncomfortable. Not sure why, but everywhere we went the locals waved to us and seemed to be glad that we were there. Overall, Egypt seemed very poor. Even in downtown Cairo and Alexandria there were wagons being pulled by donkeys or horses. Goats were kept in small vacant lots. Many homes and buildings were incomplete. Our guide explained that people do not complete there homes as their taxes don't start until the final construction is complete. Many were left unpainted to keep from have to start paying taxes.

Tour the pyramids but that is about it. Don't eat the food or water. Police escorts everywhere! Nile river is DIRTY!! Trash everywhere in the canals and even a dead horse.

The tour to Cairo/Giza was a very long day (13 hours off of the ship). Some opted to stay overnight in Cairo on another tour option. This is probably a less tiring but expensive option. The port area in Alexandria offers very little for the tourist. If you want to see this city, a tour or a taxi to get away from the port is needed.

The only negative comment was that we did not have enough time at the sphynx and pyramids. Travels a lot of miles to see one of the most spectacular sites and had under one hour. Did not get to go into the pyramid as they only take egyptian currency which we were that they would take all currency. On other buses we found out that the tour guide collected the money and purchased the tickets with eqyptian currency.

Did not get out of state room because of cruise line flu. Believe they dump sewage into port, nasty and filthy.

We didn't do much in Alexandria -- spent a bit of time on the waterfront and stopped at the library -- much of this day was spent in Cairo -- at the Egyptian Museum, taking a falluca ride on the Nile. Another amazing day in Egypt!
