Amazing sailing right into the middle of a sunken volcano. We didn’t do a ship excursion, we took the tender into port then took a small boat to the other side of the island then a bus to a hill top village then another bus to the town above the port all for 15€ We then took the cable car back down to the tender.

I don't know what more you can say about Santorini!!! My only wish was, I wish we had more time. However, I was appreciative that we got in early before the other cruise ships. Makes taking the tram to the top quick. My word of advise is once the ship is docked and the tenders start, GET DOWN THERE....you do have to collect a ticket (they will tell you where to pick it up) I went down first thing at 8am to get our tickets for the tender and we were the 2nd boat off the ship. We didn't have to stand in a big line or anything. Since we were in town early, we decided to leave a little early so again went back to the tram and no line and a quick trip down. We sat at one of the cafes at the bottom before we went back to the ship, but you should of seen the long long long lines for the tram, since 3 other ships had come in since we were first there. We did not do an excursion. We forged out on our own. My partner had been there before so we had a plan.

Loved this port. We did exploring on our own.

I missed our excursion. I was too sick by the time it was to visit Santorini. Husband went and said it was beautiful and he was happy with the tour but that it would have been much better had I been with him :) (He loves me :) )

Oia and Fira, is beautiful to walk around in. For 15 euro take the boat from the cruise port and head to Oia and then when done exploring take the scenic bus ride back (which is included in the original $15 Euro) to Fira (which is right above the cruise port) to explore some more Very easy to do and less expensive than the NCL excursion for the same trip

Spectacular port with horrible transportation up & down the caldera. Looooooong lines. 4-cruise ships with 10,000+ people vying for same cable cars. Excellent restaurants in Oia. Need more time ashore. Too much to see with so many people.

Pretty place and when you are there at Fira or Oia, you are all caught up with those postcard photos of this beautiful cliffside place; plenty of stores, shops, boutiques, hotels, BnBs, and restaurants to explore. The negative on this stop was that four other ships were in port and nearly several thousand people were visiting Santorini simultaneously...also, the ship left by 6pm so we could not watch the much anticipated sunset...

The Volcano Excursion is No Joke! Especially on a Hot Day! I thought it would be like a Hawaiian volcano walk where they drive you to the Volcano & you walk a few feet...Nope! From the bottom to the top! Our Tour guide " Greek Grandma" was Great & motivating. Fortunately we were the only ship in port so afterwards going on cable car to the shops was easy. The people were Friendly

Get off with first tender to avoid long lines for cable car. Bring water bottle and really solid walking shoes to negotiate cobblestone paths which are sometimes quite slippery. We did not take donkeys: they look malnourished and desperately needed shade and water. There is also a touristy boat "excursion" available at the "port" which will take you to Oias by boat, then later bus to Thios (port town) and finally cable car back down -- was Euro 15. We wish we HAD done that as our attempt to bus to Oias and water taxi back failed, and we ended up in a very expensive taxi back to Thios.

Totally Unique Place - love it. We were lucky on this cruise as it was fairly quiet so no queues on and off tenders and getting into Santorini.
