If you go, you need to get up early for the sail in its beautiful. Tried to walk up to the fort, didn't make it all the way as it was too hot and hard going. Needed proper walking boots really not trainers. Pretty in the old town, plenty of places to eat and drink.

Follow everyone else's advice and get up early to see the sail-in first hand. Absolutely amazing geography on the way into port. Did not do an excursion here either but was extremely impressed with the charming and beautiful walled old-town, It has a much more lived-in feeling than Dubrovnik. Great market right outside the walls as well.

A hidden gem for sure. So much culture in the old city. Definitely worth a look inside the old walls. Make your way to the top for amazing views:) Food was great as well!

As in other stops we did the Hop-On, Hop-Off bus tours, and as in other cases you have to keep in mind that each Hop-Off eats into the time before you have to return to the ship, particularly in cases like this where you are tendered in. Kotor is worth the visit. Multiple towns along a long coast and backed up against spectacular mountains.

The most beautiful sail in to port! Great views on both sides. Once ashore after tendering, walk around the old town or if you feel energetic climb up to the fort at the top of the hill for spectacular views. The climb up is not easy as there are a variety of surfaces to negotiate, gravel, shingle and steps. If you’re fit, go up, tough in the heat, but if you have any mobility issues, stay down in the old town.

We did a private shore excursion with a guide who I would highly recommend! ..what a wonderful surprise this country was! I had no idea all of the rich history. We spent a full day exploring the entire coastline with a great guide. We visited Budva, Perast (have lunch on the shore and take the boat ride out to Our Lady of the Rocks!!) and Kotor. You could just go it alone and explore the walled city of Kotor if you choose but it was really nice having a guide who could explain all of the history of these ancient cities.

This was my favourite port, seeing mountains all around you was breathtaking, walked through the old town which was amazing to see and the shops had lovely souvenirs.
