It may feel a bit unsafe walking alone off port. But there is huge mini-town I guess owned by Celebrity, right outside the dock, many wonderful ships, restaurants, attractions, birds, a Lazy River , a huge pool w lifeguard, drink n food can b purchased. But pool and Lazy Rver are free, part of Celebrity ships private experience. We Loved the pool, warm, shade, huge, lifeguard, entertainers getting us to dance in the pool etc. Music all the time. Loved it.

Loved the all inclusive area with swimming--wish we knew this was here. We did the Monkeyland-Puerto Plata Excursion and loved the monkeys. Wished we could have gotten out by the water/fort to walk around.

Went to Taino Bay, which was beautiful. In the port there is a monkey exhibit where you can go in with the monkies.

We were surprised how nice everything was. We walked over to the big pool and had a great time all day.

We did not do an excursion. We just walked around in the port and bought a few trinkets.

It’s nice that the Port of Puerto Plata offers a free ride to the welcome area and back to the ship. The Taino Bay Walk is beautiful. I took an excursion to the fort, a cigar factory, a rum distillery, the umbrella street, the pink street, etc.
