Buy jewelry at a trusted jewelry store close to home. All of these jewelry stores at the ports are corporate owned. They’re not giving you a deal. You also have no recourse if you have a problem with the jewelry once you get home.

mostly junk from what I saw. you'll find better quality and prices on st. tjomas and/or st. maarten.

I’ve been to many islands and you want to look for Kays fine jewelers they have multiple locations throughout the Caribbean I personally love ST Maarten and have spent a lot over the years there. They have the best prices and their quality is superb.

I agree with the person who said to wait until are in Saint Maarten on the Dutch side. People come from all over the world to buy their jewelry there. The Netherlands jewelers are known to be respected honest and well documented gemologists.

I would not recommend buying in Nassau. I strongly recommend Ballarina Jewelers in St. Maarten.

we have dealt with Imperial Jewelers in St. Thomas for over 20 years. Best quality and prices and they stand by their pieces.

No, no, no. There’s so much fraud on these islands, something that pricey should be conducted on your homeland.

I would buy it on the Ship in Effy. It’s guaranteed. If anything happens to it they will fix it.

Answered by Bigmoma on November 04, 2024

We only buy in St Thomas or on the ship. Keep in mind they both are duty free.

Never get Jewelry in Nassau

Answered by enjoyurdaysmile on November 04, 2024

Just like on the ship, usually a rip-off. I would be surprised if you found a bargain there, in my opinion.

Yes there is, not good to buy.

Buy a piece of costume jewelry on the cruise ship or at a port stop, but if you are going to invest in an expensive piece, I’d buy it stateside off a reputable dealer.

I haven’t bought anything inside of the port itself, but I did go to a jewelry store just outside of the port on the regular streets 2 years ago and got a great deal on a ring. I wish I remember the name of it but it was just down the block from the straw market

Answered by shelly21vb on November 17, 2024

I don't think I would buy fine jewelry at port. You never know exactly what you are buying.

Diamond International. Has NY office in case you have any issues after you come back.

Answered by briansdad on November 17, 2024

The answer is simple - just do what you would always do. Know your prices up front, so you will know if it is a good deal. Also, ALWAYS shop at the ships guaranteed shops, they will give you a list. That way if there is a problem the cruiseline will take care of it! I have had to use their guarantee before, it is legit!

Beware of man made china diamonds. Practically worthless.
