More established, seats available, bathrooms close, shops was clean and the main thing was Good working AC! No excursions due to price!

This was our second time here. The first time was our favorite port by far, doing the ATV excursion in 2018. Things have changed though and it’s becoming a real swindler’s paradise with our taxi driver (Miguel) and local shops gouging you to death. Pay cash only NO CREDIT! If using credit ask for the exact dollar amount on your receipt.. Also I realized DR has an insanely high tax rate.

The port was very nice and clean. We did some shopping and no one was pushy to buy their stuff. I do wish I knew about the water park that was free to us to use. I would have worn my swimsuit and taken advantage of it. Not enough time to go back to ship and get our suits on.

Our city tour and lunch was one of the best excursions I've ever had due to our tour guide Carlos "Big Papa". He was very informative and lots of fun.

Amber Cove did not have any beach access. Several pools and a little zip line. Lots of shops. Nice port area. We did not do an excursion, but did walk about 20 minutes to a public beach area which had free chairs and lots of shade. Nice calm water. Locals provided bar service. But be aware, when you go to pay your bar bill, they put on a hard sell to try and get you to buy their souvenirs.

Spent several hours enjoying the lazy river, laying in the sun, and relaxing. Staff are constantly coming around to take food or drink orders. On the way back, I had the "fish pedicure". Fun!

We went to the pool at the port and it was just okay. I’d book an excursion or stay on the boat next time.
