Amber Cove (Puerto Plata), Dominican Republic Port Reviews

Started out bad , found out you can rent a cab and driver fir the entire day . Took us to a chocolate factory and coffee factory. Then shopping. We wasted too much time fi ding out about cab rental tha we were unable to see the tobacco factory. The traffic was crazy , our driver really took care of us .

We did not stop at this port because of an emergency on board. But am sure if we had stop it would have been just as amazing as the others

No excursions but it was nice walking around the island.

I was taken back by all the poverty in this country. But the country persons were very friendly

Again a cruise line created port. Not worth getting off the boat

We did another "best of mega truck tour" here with "Mega Adventures" who did an INCREDIBLE job. Saw a ton of stuff from going thru town in Puerto Plata to going high up on the hillside to oversee the whole town and bay, as well as adjacent countryside. Went to a plantation to see how local crops were grown (pineapple, cocoa, coffee, bananas, etc), which was super interesting, and finished up with a traditional Dominican meal for lunch which was delicious! These guys do it right if you're in Amber Cove!

Love this port. We stayed at the pool which was nice.
