Very quaint. The Bering Sea Tours the best tour in which I have participated. Need more time there.

went on a great city tour. Our tour guide was really good. Really enjoyed learning about totem poles.

Lots of shops / kind of a cheesy lumberjack show - just ok port. From what I understand - many of these shops are owned by the cruise lines - not many local merchants.

We rented a car here and it was the perfect place for it. There was great wildlife viewing right along the road way. We drove to Herring Cove Bridge which is right across from a salmon hatchery and the Alaskan Rainforest Sanctuary. We saw bears, eagles, seals, and some other great wildlife! Then we drove to a section of the Tongass National Forest and hiked around a lake there. Not challenging hiking - but great scenery again!
