If you expect the town to keep you engaged without going on excursions you are in for a surprise..... unless you like jewelry stores and crappy souvenir shopping. Take the excursions out of the port

Excursion to Mendenhall Glacier. The trip was probably an hour too long for just this one destination.

Loved Juneau. Was surprised how modern it looked. Tour guide, Brian, was very knowledgable & friendly. Mendenhall Glacier was incredible! Time spent in Juneau way too short.

Loved Juneau! Took the whale watching excursion. We also took the Tram! This was not a good experience. Once we got to the top we had to get in line to come back down. We stood in line over an hour to come back down. We didn't get to Visit any shops or exhibits! If you are going to do this do it early in the morning.

It was a rainy day so we skipped the boat tour that went to look at marine mammals and did only the part of the tour that went to Mendenhall Glacier by bus. There is an interesting visitor center and the fairly short walk to the falls by the glacier is well worth it. The state museum in Juneau has a small but nice Native American collection.
