August 2014 - Norwegian Getaway to Caribbean - Eastern
This cruise as compared to ones taken on smaller ship (2,000 passengers or less) was lacking in comfort, privacy and functionality. The ship was beautiful to look at but did not perform well. The adult pool area was small and crowded and the kids splash area was right next to it. The special adult area in the stern did not have a pool nor did it have any shade except for a few umbrellas, which due to winds were deemed not useable most of the time. It seems the cruise lines are aping the airlines by setting extra charges. There was a magic show combined with a complimentary dinner for $30.00 which on other ships would be part of the regular entertainment and the meal was less than that offered elsewhere on the ship. The food offered in the regular restaurants was very good, We found the balcony cabins on deck 9 were tiny and the balconies were a joke, no depth whatsoever. All said we would prefer smaller ships and certainly not the even greater mega ships.
