April 2014 - Norwegian Epic to Caribbean - Western
having booked an aft facing balcony, expectations were high for the unobstructed view. there was no disappointment, views are spectacular from these unique locations. however the cabin leaves one wondering what the builders were thinking. it had the distinct feel of being on a camping trip. the TINY sink located in the main room....... toilet and shower separated from the room by only a smoked glass door...one must very comfortable with the person or persons sharing...zero privacy. service on board was very good with food being usual cruise ship fare. tried the service charge fee based japanese restaurant, good service, good food and quite a show by the sushi chef. unfortunately it was the end of spring break and there were 1100 kids on board, yikes. NCL normally offers an alcoholic beverage package, but said due to it being spring break, not available. odd given the fact that you have to be 21 to buy it in the first place. another area where NCL fell short was it was vitrually impossible to get a deck chair. their "no reserving deck chair policy" is a joke, most of the deck chairs within vicinity of the pool areas were covered with towels by 7am. with no occupants in sight until the breakfast buffet cattle call was over. the only reprieve for adults was an area at the back of the ship for adults only. public areas were immaculately cleaned on a constant basis. for three nights in a row, between the late hours of the evening and early morning, most of the toilets on board did not work as well as no water available from sinks anywhere to be found, and i spent half an hour trying to find a place to wash my hands! i contacted the pursers desk and was told they were upgrading the pipe system, this i found to be inexcusable. the entire crew was extremely helpful at all times and casually friendly. this cruise was booked soley for experience of the aft facing balcony, and the view was very cool. the noise of the wake of ship was very loud while cruising but offered white noise for sleeping. not sure if i would book the eipc again, jury is out.
