Carnival Splendor

October 2017 - 6 Night Eastern Caribbean (Ft. Lauderdale Roundtrip) Cruise on Carnival Splendor

Enjoyed the ship. This was our second cruise and first time on one of the larger boats (previously went on Fascination). I liked that the Splendor had more entertainment options. MarQ was a fantastic cruise Director, very personable. The Fun Squad did a great job with various games and trivia contests. We were early dinning in the Black Pearl. Rey, Enrique, and Budi were great! They were very attentive and learned our preferences and names by the second night. Rey realized as a table we were ordering things to pass around and try so he started sending out various appetizers before we even ordered for us all to have a taste of. I mentioned to Enrique how much I loved the cream brûlée that was only on the first elegant night and he asked the kitchen to make them for our table for the last night. I was really impressed with that! We bought the VIP spa package and it was nice. However the spa pool was often crowded so I am not sure if they limit the amount if those packages like they claim to do. The only bad things I could warn you about the boat is there is quite a funky odor in many places on the boat. We noticed it walking around the halls on Deck 10 and very strongly in the Cool Lounge on Deck 5. Not sure what it was but it never went away and unfortunately a lot of fun stuff happens in the Cool Lounge so we just endured it and tried to sit near the door. The further back in the room the worse it got. And we really felt the boat vibrating heavily in the Black Pearl upper level every night at dinner. Not a weather thing, it was a mechanical type of shaking. I definitely enjoyed this trip!
