January 2016 - Allure of the Seas to Caribbean - Western
I am sure fussy people who were veteran cruisers could nit-pick small issues with RCCL or this particular cruise, I think we have been on enough cruises to say that there will always be an issue with something. But when you look objectively at this cruise experience you have to rate it as a little better than very good. The broadway show "Mama Mia" was exceptional and I am not an ABBA "nut". All entertainment on the ship was good but one of the comics in the comedy club was not really funny at all. There are so many options on the larger boats for entertainment that all you need to have is a little flexibility. This was our first cruise with RCCL at the diamond level so we were fortunate to have the diamond lounge available to us for breakfast which was a nice added perk. In the evening there was a cocktail party in Dazzles for the diamond and above members with drinks and plenty of delicious hors d'oeuvres. It pays to be loyal. In general, the food throughout the boat was very good. Solarium bistro for healthy options, the Windjammer on this cruise was exceptional, the food in The Park Cafe was really good (great soup and sandwiches freshly prepared and salads made to order), Silk and The Grande dining rooms were very nice and the service excellent. One of our only pet peeves was the Icon Grill. Last year we took advantage of the MY Time dining and were seated in the Grande. This year we did My time and were in the Icon Grill. The "look" of the IG was a little to casual for us so we asked to be seated in The Grande or Silk and for the remainder of the cruise and our request was handled seamlessly. Our one night in the "Chops" specialty restaurant was very nice. There a re so many options on Allure to have a good time. It will be your fault if you don"t.
