Big Ship

Probably will not sail on this ship again. It is sort of like being stuck in the belly of an airplane with no view to the outside unless you are on the pool/sports decks, or unless you go suite class or have your own balcony. Even if you have your own balcony, if you are not suite class, the bars , lounges, card rooms etc are all windowless. Sometimes after I had all the sun and wind and noise I could tolerate on the pool deck I would just go sit in my room so I could look out the window.

Wonderful new zealand cruise

Outstanding, unforgettable. lovely with family. it was a very relaxed cruise for me witha room I could be happy in watching from my balcony because I had surgery recently, and couldn't do anything too athletic, and I wanted something restful, but my adult children were very active with activities on board and excursions. It is perfect for a family with action and rest as you choose. On this ship I was able to know I was on the ocean and enjoy the natural beauty without the constant intrusion of noise and overly bright lights, but there was plenty of action and activity for those who wanted.

Cruise tips

Basseterre, St. Kitts

Paid a driver to take us around the island, stopped at Pirate Beach for drinks and snacks, saw all around the island, it was beautiful, was glad we did not go in a group because the driver took us where ever we wanted and dropped us off if we wanted to stop somewhere and came back to get us, and it wasn't expensive

Miami, Florida

Horrible storm totally drenched the place on return, flights cancelled, we had to spend hours sitting on the plane after it landed, all night to rebook and claim luggage, never really saw Miami, so maybe better another time

Nassau, Bahamas

No excursion. Visited brewery and Senior Froggies, took pictures of the beaches. It was a short stop

Symphony of the Seas

Go suite class or outward facing balcony or don't go.

Wellington, New Zealand

Toured the parliament, ugliest building ever (sorry New Zealand), could not bring myself to buy Starbucks cup with picture of ugly parliament building. My children enjoyed the botanic garden excursion.

Picton, New Zealand

Rented a car and went wine tasting. BEAUTIFUL scenery. Lovely wine (Cloudy Bay) and delicious cheese plates. We live near Napa, California, and wine taste frequently, so when I say good wine, I am comparing to some very good wines.

Port Chalmers (Dunedin), New Zealand

We rented a car and drove to Castle Larnoch on our own in the morning, and had Devonshire tea at the cafe there and walked around the gardens. It was much less expensive for four people than doing the RC excursion which was sold out anyway. The area around the port is beautiful and there a cute little town at the port. Dunedin itself is a largish industrial city where we visited the Cadbury chocolate factory and had very good hot chocolate and complimentary chocolate samples. Bought we are here souvenir at Starbucks.

If you get a loft suite, get one on the corner, three balconies instead of one so you can see the side views and the back view.
