January 2014 - Carnival Victory to Caribbean - Eastern
This cruise was defnitely worth the price we paid. We had three stops in five days. The food was good, especially the four cheese pizza and reuben sandwiches for lunch. Dining on our own worked out very well since we are early diners and coud always get a table near a window. There are LOTS of trivia challenges available for those who enjoy that. We were disappointed with the piano bar since the musician seemed to do more talking than singing. The shopping on board was nice, and the casino was always jumping. I suggest you avoid the "money claws" machines. I didn't see a single win on them the entire trip.
Half moon Cay had the most beautiful beach conditions I have ever seen. The water was crystal clear and the sandy bottom was white and silky smooth. You have to look for the ice tea and lemonade at the barbeque. They have drinks for purchase near the food, but the free drinks are hidden in a separate area off to the side. Be sure to ask where to find them.
The tour availability was sufficient. We took the tour to Belmoral island to swim with the dolphins. Wear beach shoes if you go. We weren't warned and had a very rough time getting in the water and standing for the first part of the experience. You cannot take pictures. They take plenty, but you must buy the entire CD for $70. A single photo would have been nice. The dolphin were delightful.
Skip the tour of Grand Turk. There's a very nice beach as you get off the ship at the end of the pier. Your time would be better spent there.
All in all, we had a nice time and would recommend this cruise. Carnival does not get the credit they deserve for providing a fun experience at a reasonable price.
