April 2015 - Regal Princess to Transatlantic
The Princess Regal is a beautiful ship. We were lucky enough to be on her first Transatlantic crossing - from Ft. Lauderdale to Copenhagen. The crew is the best we have encountered. Food was outstanding and, the entertainment was first class.
On the negative side - the ship would be better suited to warm climates. The pools are all outside and not usable for most people when it is cold out. Also, with rain and wind the bars, ice cream shop and, grill on the pool deck were not utilized much. We only attended one movie under the stars due to the weather. We have been on cruise ships that have pools with dome roofs that can be opened or closed - depending on the weather. Also, other ship had offered indoor movie theaters.
The ship is a large one - holds 3500 guests I believe but, the main theater where the shows were held seats 900 - so you can see even with two shows not everyone could attend. The smaller theater held way less. The cruise director did try scheduling three seatings for some shows which did seem to work.
We enjoyed our cruise and would Princess to anyone as they do a great job. We were just slightly disappointed in this ships design - especially the common areas. The room (we had a balcony) was great. Good size with plenty of storage.
