July 2014 - Carnival Dream to Caribbean - Western
Had 27 people on a family cruise out of NOLA on the Carnival Dream. Huge and beautiful ship. Did not get the impresson from other reviewers that it was old and dated. Food was your typical Carnival fare. Not 5 star but you could definitely find something you would like. Pros: Great Indian food at Tandoori Grill and Pasta station. Cons are that the hours are limited and the lines at the Mongolian Wok were 30-40 minutes unless you were first in line when it opened.
The biggest disappointment I had on this cruise was that we had arranged to sit together as a group prior to our cruise. 3 of us confirmed it with our separate cruise companies right before we left. Get on the boat and we are separated and Carnival made no effort to get us back together. Very disappointing!. I understand that there are 4000 plus passengers, but when a a group of 27 makes efforts to cruise together, and plans accordingly, if Carnival makes a mistake, they should try to solve it. All in all it was a great cruise! You get what you pay for. If you want better food/classier experience, another cruise company might be your solution.
