Majesty of the Seas

November 2014 - Majesty of the Seas to Caribbean - Bahamas

Nice affordable getaway on an older ship

The good: meals in the main dining room were very good (with the exception of the turkey T-giving dinner), service was wonderful (especially our servers Jovana and Roche, and cabin steward Joel), RCL discontinued its $25 corkage fee for wine brought on board and served in the casino (big savings for my wine swilling wife) and while the ship was the oldest in the RCL fleet, it offered plenty of amenities (rock climbing wall, casino, movies, etc.) to fill our time while onboard. For whatever reasons the ship was overloaded with Hispanics and Europeans (that made for great poker games in the casino -- I played Texas Hold Em 2 nights against the Italians and other Euros and cashed out with enough to pay for my cruise fare). The not so good: The ship was overloaded with Hispanics and Europeans, the ear-splitting announcements seemed to disrupt the ship every few minutes (and then everything was immediately repeated in high volume Espanol), high winds kept us away from our day on the private island, and you practically have to submit to a body cavity search to get on board in Miami. All in all, a good vacation, and one I thought ended too soon.

kenrankin's Tips

Majesty of the Seas Majesty of the Seas - There's not much to do in Nassau so we bought a day pass to the Riu resort -- an all-inclusive beachfront operation next door to Atlantis. We had a nice lunch there, drank pina coladas and beer in the swim up bar, and got back to the ship in plenty of time for a nap before dinner. Cost: $75 pp.
