August 2015 - Celebrity Summit to Bermuda
Ok, well we went in August and to say it was hot was an understatement. But the water was great when you got to it.
The ship looked good. Our cabin deck 8 veranda was nice but tight for 4 people (especially at night with all beds out). I will say though that the bathroom although small would definitely allow one person to shower while the other brushed their teeth will no issues. In fact the shower was huge for cabin in my option.
The cabin being on the small size was a little tough with 2 kids 6 and 5 yrs. Every time we tried to get to the closet or around the bed we ran into someone.
The food was ok. But not really my kind of food. Too much French food. I am just not a snail and frog legs kind of gal. But the food was hot and the desserts were very good. The wait staff in the cosmo dinning room were great. We had select dinning but kept the same table and because we liked our staff so much.
Ship was crowded on days at sea but I expected that, but there was always a quiet place to find some quiet time if you wanted it.
The kids area was great. I only say that because my youngest did not want to go the first night. But we talked him into going the next night. From then on all he and his sister wanted to do was go back to camp morning noon and night. The last night we kept them for the slumber party (fees usually apply)that starts at 10pm when I went to pick them up at 10:45pm I was told the last night is complementary for the slumber party which was a nice little surprise. I guess they do that so the parents have some extra time to pack their bags.
Casino was nice too. We like to gamble and with the kids in camp after dinner we were able to get in a hour or two, which was a perfect amount. By the end of the cruise the bartender knew us and would just have our drinks ready when we got there. Good man.
The other guest on the ship ran the gambit. There were young families at least 1 weeding party, and a lot of seniors. I would guess the average age was around 45 years. With that being said we were told that there were 400 kids on our cruise which was the last full week of August. I did not feel that there were that many children on the ship which is a good sign.
Also saw one show and it was great.
Oh and one more note. This is to the staff in the bridge. I wanted to say thanks. On the last day at sea crossing the Atlantic I saw in front of the ship a small whale maybe a humpback not sure. But most definitely a calf. Which meant mommy whale was not far away. At first I was upset that the ship was so close to the baby. But then I looked to the back of the ship and looked at the track the ship had taken and I saw there was a definite turn to the left which showed that the ship (a big cruise liner) had made a change in direction for a little baby whale. The little whale swam off on our starboard side happy as could be and gave me an opportunity to take a picture of a whale in the open ocean. My hats off to you. it warmed my heart.
