Emerald Princess

September 2015 - Emerald Princess to Europe - Western Mediterranean

Emerald Princess on Mediterranean Cruise

This was a very enjoyable cruise especially for first time cruisers of the Mediterranean. Though itinerary was changed dropping Tunis, Tunisia due to political strife, the alternative Salerno, Italy as port of call was an excellent choice. It should be noted that this cruise was actually two 7-day itineraries rather than one 14-day one. Therefore, we had a couple repeated ports of call which was okay with us because it gave us the opportunity to do different excursions the second time around. So we got to see more of each region. Ports of call were very interesting as departure points for excursions. However, they may not have been convenient for travelers who wanted to stay onboard or visit immediate area. They had to use taxis or shuttles to get to many of the closest towns for walking around. But we did not hear those people complaining.

Norwegian Sun

April 2015 - Norwegian Sun to Caribbean - Western

Cruise on Norwegian Sun

This must be the friendliest staff and crew that we have ever sailed on any past cruise or cruise line. We were constantly greeted with smiles and welcoming comments.  They even rolled out a real red carpet with entertainment greeting US back to the ship when returning from shore excursions. It was a fun time for everyone of all ages. We enjoyed the casual dining along with specialty restaurants. Entertainment was professionally done as well. We would highly recommend this ship and staff. Unfortunately, this ship will now be doing Alaskan itineraries, bit we understand the Star will replace it for the Western Caribbean.

joekrajew's Tips

Emerald Princess Emerald Princess - There were 2 formal nights each week but tux was not required. Suits and sport coats were acceptable attire. Other nights Business Casual was proper attire but it seemed people were allowed to "sneak" in wearing shorts. The weekly Crab Shack dining in the Caribe Dining Room is a great choice for $20
Tampa, Florida - We were in Tampa prior to the cruise to attend the NCAA Women's Basketball Final Four Tournament so we got to enjoy the activities surrounding this event. on our own we toured the Tampa area's main attractions. There is empty to do for any interests.
Belize City, Belize - We recommend the Belize highlights and river ride excursion. Excellent guides.
Costa Maya (Mahahual), Mexico - Good opportunity to negotiate price on the port shopping center. Mayan ruins are good if you hadn't seen any before.
Norwegian Sun Norwegian Sun - The only "disappointment" on this ship was Las Rambas Lounge for tapas. They had a very limited selections of foods. We would not recommend wasting time here if you are looking for a good tapas experience.
