Radiance of the Seas

August 2015 - Radiance of the Seas to Alaska - Gulf of Alaska

Dream Alaska Vacation

My husband and I sailed with Royal Caribbean, on Radiance of the Seas to Alaska for seven nights. We had the most wonderful vacation one could ever hope for. Every aspect of the trip was simply perfect. The ship was beautiful, looked as pretty as the photos! Our room was adorable, plenty of storage room, separate bathroom, awesome balcony (a must)! Our steward kept our room spotless and made adorable towel pets for us. The staff all over the ship were more than attentive, saw to our every need.  We ate at Cascades, the main dinning room and had a ball. The servers entertained us almost every night, it was so much fun.  The food was unbelievable...delicious, beautiful, and plenty of it. Our personal servers outdid themselves for us constantly!  We thoroughly enjoyed the casino, delicious drinks, and fun for all.  Who plays putt-putt golf on a cruise ship...we did!  The "Centrum" was the heartbeat of the ship, and it was always rockin'! Singing, dancing, and games with lots of audience participation, One word to sum up our cruise on the Radiance would have to be "HAPPY"! Thank you Royal Caribbean from The Preskitts!!

jlpreskitt's Tips

Vancouver (Canada Place), British Columbia - What a beautiful, bustling city! Our hotel was in downtown Vancouver so we could walk everywhere and walk we did! We covered the waterfront, then toured Gastown. It is a national historic site complete with an iron statue of "Gassy Jack" and an awesome steam driven clock.
Cruise Hubbard Glacier - It was a very humbling experience to hear the thunderous sound of the icebergs calving. It almost brings tears to your eyes.
Juneau, Alaska - You must go Whale watching with Juneau Whale Watching through Juneau Tours right on the dock. The crew is very skilled at what they do. We saw 16 whales, really! My husband said jokingly, it was a "whale petting tour". CPT Dirk, AJ, and Christian were wonderful! Also loved the Mendenhall Glacier! Must walk it all! Breathtaking!
Skagway, Alaska - Skagway had a precious, quaint downtown where we bought most of our souvenirs. We rode the train up to White Pass, an absolute MUST-DO! So much history about Alaska, beautiful photo ops.
Ketchikan, Alaska - Ketchikan was our first port, so we just looked at souvenirs "casually"...knowing we had plenty of time to buy. Not true, we were real busy in the other ports, wish I had "really" shopped here, especially for pretty Christmas ornaments. Really enjoyed Saxman Native Village and City tour.
Icy Strait Point (Hoonah), Alaska - Make sure you take the walkway to Hoonah, you WILL see male and female bald eagles. Wow and wow!! We also saw their nest, so exciting!!
Radiance of the Seas Radiance of the Seas - Our balcony! It was a highlight of our cruise. We had breakfast on the balcony, while soaking up the beautiful Alaska scenery. Sometimes we enjoyed a drink and a coffee on the balcony. We will never sail again without one.
