August 2014 - Jewel of the Seas to Caribbean - Southern
This was my 4th cruise and I have to say, my favorite. Not only did Royal Caribbean serve delicious dishes for lunch at the Windjammer buffet, the main dining room dinners were varied. Previous Carnival cruises had average and plentiful food, but I looked forward to Royal Caribbean's cuisine for every meal. The fresh fruits and vegetables were plentiful, a plus!
Our biggest raves; however, is for our waiter - kudos to him. Lincoln, our dinner waiter, went out of his way to accommodate our 10 year old daughter who is a picky eater. He anticipated her order to provide her with fresh berries and raw carrots that were not on the menu. Often, he brought them to her within 60 seconds of her being seated. This made a huge difference because our dining time was late, 8:30pm, and she was famished. Lincoln entertained our table with simple magic tricks and toothpick puzzles, stumping the adults as well as the teens. He shared with us his life in the Phillipeans and encouraged us to join him on a new state-of-the-art cruise ship that will be sailing, soon. Lincoln truly knows how to please his customers.
We we truly enjoyed the island ports on this Southern Caribbean cruise. Some of the beaches were walking distance from the ports (St Croix, Sint Maartin) so an excursion was not necessary saving our family of five some money. Snorkeling was fabulous! Antigua had a inexpensive shopping area outside the port to spend the morning.
Our family went to a show every evening seeing plenty of live music, dancing, etc... The lounges had lively dancers who encouraged everyone to dance. The cruise director, Denny, was entertaining - truly hilarious! Don't miss his "Adult games" on the last night of the cruise as it was tasteful and left us with great memories do fun, silly, crazy times. I expected it to be raunchy but it was titilating enough to leave us smiling!
