Grand Princess

October 2015 - Grand Princess to Coastal - West Coast

California Coast Cruise

Comedian with filthy language was inappropriate. Quartet singer was too loud and ruined passengers wanting to dance. Disco night was horrible music, not really disco.  You need more danceable music for passengers.  Maybe the Mexican trio could have played in the Wheelhouse 2-3 nights instead of the screaming singer from the Quartet.   People want to dance - not listen to screamers or jump up and down to music that has no rhythm.

Aside from the music problems, the rest of the cruise was perfect.  Ric Steele was the best part of the entertainment - a real professional with something for everyone. Dancers and singers at Princess Theater and Vista Lounge put on a great show also.  Make your demographics to the population of your people, which is early rock dance and funk.  We are on the boat for "feel good" music, not to promote screaming singers.

jeanthestewart's Tips

Santa Barbara, California - Beautiful, must see city. We took free shuttle, then walked to transit center and boarded a city bus and rode around the neighborhoods. Don't need to buy an expensive excursion in Santa Barbara to enjoy its beauty.
Long Beach (Los Angeles), California - Lovely city. You can walk across the bridge and see a good part of the beauty of Long Beach on foot. Downtown is interesting and the Aquarium is worth seeing. No need for any tour in Long Beach.
San Diego, California - After riding the light rail for 4 hours (we went into every direction on all the trains) for $7.00, we understand San Diego real well now. We went straight to the border and ate a delicious taco next to the transport broker and talked to people who have businesses at the border. I've crossed the border on foot many, many times, but have never stopped and talked to the business people on the U.S. side. It's a real cultural experience and it's safe to be around there. Then, we jumped on the train and went back to downtown and to the ship. Also Santa Fe train station is fun to go into.
Ensenada, Mexico - Definitely take the La Bufadora tour. It is the best on of all those offered. Have a delicious shrimp taco at the stand where the buses park. Lupita and her husband run the place and they are very friendly and appreciative of your business. Pass by the vendors of wares. Their prices are super gouging unless you are highly skilled at bartering. The blowhole was a marvelous experience and the bus trip there and back gave you a real slice of Mexican life in Ensenada. We walked a 10 block radius downtown and bought candy at a Dulceria. Ensenada has always been the safest place on the Baja Peninsula.
San Francisco, California - If you live across the bay, take public transportation to and from the ship. It is so easy and cheap if you have a senior clipper card.
Grand Princess Grand Princess - The best cabin for us is on Lido deck near the exit to pool areas.
