Splendour of the Seas

November 2015 - 7 Night Greek Isles & Turkey (Venice Roundtrip) Cruise on Splendour of the Seas

Splendour was splendid

This cruise was a great way to sample several sites by traveling with our "hotel and restaurant".  The King & I dining room service was most exceptional.  We enjoyed our time in Venice before and after the cruise; it's worth an extra day or two.  Ephesus was our favorite stop during the cruise.  Although the weather during this end-of-the-season trip caused us to miss our stop at Dubrovnik, overall the much-reduced crowds and cooler temperatures for walking made it all worthwhile

Dubrovnik, Croatia - Sadly, weather delay leaving Venice caused this stop to be cancelled.
Kusadasi (Ephesus), Turkey - This was the highlight stop of the trip--Ephesus! We purchased a shore excursion through CheapCruises & used the voucher they provided, which cut the price in half. It was a wonderful and intimate (6 people) walk through the ancient city & ruins of St John's basilica with our knowledgable guide (Rose, in english; don't remember her proper Turkish name). Lunch was in a large garden outside a carpet shop. Food was excellent and the setting very relaxed. The carpet-making explanation was fascinating and impressive. We were not in the market for a carpet and are happy to say the sales pitch was not high-pressure, even though we were the last cruise ship of the season.
Splendour of the Seas Splendour of the Seas - If you want to bypass the longer check-in line, it's not enough to just have your luggage tags preprinted and in-hand. They must be attached to each bag (stapled or taped, per the instructions).
