Whales, Mendenhall and Mt. Roberts Tram are the port Highlights. Stop in the Red Dog Saloon too if you have the time. Keep your eyes pealed and camera's ready for Eagles too they are plentiful at this port.
My husband and I have raised our family and we both work full time. We still have college age children coming and going from our home fairly regularly so home and work are both busy places. Vacation time is limited, so a cruse is a perfect choice for us for vacations. I love to escape the busyness of day to day life on a cruise ship where everything is taken care of for you and there is so much to do you never get board. If you want to just escape and do nothing that is available too. You get to see a lot in a short amount of time without the hassle of changing hotels.

Love Skagway! We booked a trip outside of Princess with Dyea Dave. We went to Emerald Lake. This was awesome. We got off the ship had no problem finding Chris and found out we were his only passengers for the day. We had a private tour for way less than what Princess would have charged! Chris was great and helpful if finding wildlife. We saw 3 bears and a group of Dall Sheep. Emerald Lake was beautiful and Carcross was a great little town to see. Stop in to the general store for some authentic Alaskan made items. Chris would have also dropped us off for a White Pass train ride back to port too if we had chosen to do that.
Easy port for disembarking. A shot walk through a covered sidewalk to the train.
Choose to sail out of Vancouver vs. Seattle. We have sailed out of both ports and you will get through Vancouver terminal much faster!
Be prepared for rain. It rains a lot in this port. Choose your excursions with this in mind. Also check the time your ship will be in port. We chose the crab fest and ended up eating crab at 10:00 AM. Check out Creek Street if you can.
We chose anytime dining and tried to go at 5:30 each day. This way we did not have to wait for a table and were able to take advantage of later show performances if we wanted to. Most nights when we were leaving the dining room there were people waiting to be seated.
