Majesty of the Seas

September 2013 - Majesty of the Seas to Caribbean - Bahamas

Big value, little room.

To start with ,our cruise experience aboard Royal Caribbean's Majesty of the Seas was very good. Despite being the oldest cruise ship in RC's fleet, it was among one of the nicest ships I've cruised on to date. The public spaces were lovely, well maintained and updated. The dining spaces were very nice and well laid out. Our cabin was on deck 5, interior, and was the smallest room I've stayed in on land or sea. The room was big enough to fit the bed with a small walkway accommodating both the desk (with 3 tiny drawers and chair) closet and bathroom entrance. The TV was mounted above the foot of the bed which was touching the bathroom wall. Missing was any real drawer space, tables, chairs outlets (except the one on the desk) or any real space. Also absent where any 'luxury' amenities like bathrobes or body wash and shampoo in the (small) shower. Room service was provided but the menu (at least the breakfast menu) was uninspiring. I also had occasion to see a cabin with a porthole and found them to be, at least on deck 5, just as tiny. The upper decks were quite nice, and Royal has a nice pool layout. The buffet was always well stocked with a variety of tasty food- breakfast, lunch and diner- and was easy to navigate and always had available seating. My wife, however was disappointed in the variety of desserts- her most anticipated perk on any cruise. Dinner in the dining was always good to excellent with great service and attention to details. Entertainment was always good with stage shows and a variety of music options in various lounges. Missing was any kind of dance options, though this cruise had plenty of Latin dancing available. The ports were nice with good excursions offered. Coco cay was quite surprisingly fantastic; great beaches, plenty of amenities, lounge furniture and hammocks everywhere, and a great island buffet lunch. With out a doubt, the most relaxing off ship day I have spent. Overall, this was a very good cruise, one I would gladly repeat in spite of the tiny cabin .
