Ports: New York, New York
We did not visit Bermuda so that we could avoid a storm and this disappointed many passengers especially as we have heard that other cruise ships did dock in Bermuda.
We were also unhappy about the alternative port of call selected as being Le Harvre.
This was a poor alternative considering we could have gone to The Canaries, Madeira, The Azores or ports in Spain and Portugal or even stayed overnight in Lisbon as we only had half a day there.
We also feel Celebrity is cutting back and this was our 7th cruise on Celebrity (and 16th cruise in total) and the 5th cruise on Eclipse and this was not as good as the previous cruises.
We were on the Norwegian Pearl a couple of weeks earlier and that was much better.
Great ship, great crew, great, food, great entertainment and a great itinerary. Unfortunately the cabin is badly designed. Cannot stand up straight on my side of bed because folded up bunk bed protrudes from wall, table at end of bed prevents my wife from walking around her side of bed and cannot sit straight on toilet because it is too close to wall of bathroom. This was the only thing that spoiled a great cruise.
Carnival Dream is a nice ship with good crew let down by some of the food and some of the entertainment and having the air conditioning too cold especially in the dining room.
The production shows by the ships entertainers were good but the comedian / magician did tricks that weren't visible from the balcony and could not be heard very well. We were disappointed that there were two nights without a show in the main theater.
Some of the food was cold and not of the best quality.
The ship, crew and food are great on the Getaway only spoiled by some of the noisy and unruly passengers. The two main shows - Burn The Floor and Legally Blonde - were fantastic.
Whilst this cruise on Eclipse was still good it was not up to our previous 3 cruises on Celebrity Eclipse. We got the distinct impression that Celebrity were cutting back. Previously we have had a beautiful Brunch in the main dining room with many ice sculptures and other displays but this time it was relegated to the Oceanview Buffet with just a couple of ice sculptures. Also we felt the Sky Lounge was under used for live entertainment and even when the weather got better there did not seem to be the outside entertainment on deck. We believe the dress code is soon to be discontinued and it was obvious that it was not being enforced at all on this cruise and we think this is a disappointing move.
Although this was a nice cruise it was no better than our experiences on Celebrity and NCL (this is our 9th cruise). If fact the selection of food in the buffet was considerably less than on either of the other two cruise lines we have experienced and again in the main dining room the quality of food was the same as others but the choice on the menu was about half. The crew were excellent and the guest speakers and the entertainment was very good.

shared a quick tip for Celebrity Eclipse"If you have goods confiscated at embarkation don't wait to collect them until you have left the ship as instructed on your debarkation instructions. Ours was not put on the ship in Miami and until I asked for it the night before debarkation no one new it was missing and then it was to late."
