Norwegian Getaway

November 2016 - Norwegian Getaway to Caribbean - Western

Getaway was a fun ship!

This ship was a lot of fun.  The water slides were fun and fast, the mini-golf was much better than any ship I've been on, and the ropes course was so much fun.  We also rock-climbed, and the kids did the spider slide and the trampoline bungy.  While my kids didn't do the kids club - the kids that did seemed to have a lot of fun and enjoyed hanging out with each other.  The Glow party was a lot of fun - though my kids could only last about a half hour as the party didn't start until 10:30pm.

I would definitely go on this ship again!

Carnival Paradise

October 2016 - Carnival Paradise to Caribbean - Western

Good value

The Paradise is an older ship, but was fun and relaxing for the price.  Employees were great, service was great, but the food as most cruisers know was marginal at best.  Need 5 nights away to refresh your batteries but on a budget or don't want to spend a fortune then this is a great cruise.

MSC Divina

November 2015 - MSC Divina to Caribbean - Eastern

MSC Divina

The ship was beautiful and well maintained.  The food was better than when we took an MSC cruise in 2009 but still not to the same level as American cruise lines.  The entertainment was enjoyable and we enjoyed the non-smoking casino.  The value was great and our stateroom was large (balcony).  I also enjoyed the fact that they don't try to sell you their drink specials like other cruise lines - they walk by but they don't ask you.  The drink prices weren't bad at all.

fsucpa's Tips

Coxen Hole, Roatan, Bay Islands, Honduras - We zip-lined and saw monkeys and birds. We did the excursion on our own. It cost $45 per person plus transportation costs (the taxi will stay with you the entire day). We negotiated $200 for the excursion.
Harvest Caye, Belize - It is so nice. The pool is ice cold - but it's a nice day to lay out. Food and drinks cost money (though it's their private island - so not thrilled with that aspect).
Cozumel, Mexico - We wanted to para-sail. We couldn't negotiate for less than $70 per person. So we decided to keep going (since the discount from what the ship would have cost was somewhat minimal). We went to Mega which is like a Super Target or Super Walmart and they had a tourist place. They charge $60 per person and $15 per rider (if you don't want to para-sail but just watch your friends or family do it).
Costa Maya (Mahahual), Mexico - This is a really cute port that you can shop and a large pool (ice cold and very salty). The water park nearby seemed really large and fun. If we go to this port again, we'll definitely do the water park.
Norwegian Getaway Norwegian Getaway - We never find the bowling until we were disembarking. It's hidden on the 7th floor near arcade games. There are two lanes. I'm assuming few ever played because it's so hidden. $5 per game per person.
Cozumel, Mexico - Wi-fi is awful. Go across the street to the high speed Internet cafe - $3 for 30 minutes and I think it was $4 for an hour. The port's stores were without wi-fi for 2 days.
Carnival Paradise Carnival Paradise - This ship is small so you see the same people every day and there isn't a lot to do so relax and don't be afraid to make friends. It makes it a lot more enjoyable.
Nassau, Bahamas - We did the Atlantis water park and had a blast. Taxi was $4 per person each way. We booked a room through Comfort Suites which gets you the pass to Atlantis. You can learn more by looking them up online.
Charlotte Amalie, St. Thomas - We took a taxi and went to Coki Point Beach to snorkle. Was packed but was fun and the water was so blue. Taxi was $9 per person each way.
San Juan, Puerto Rico - We loved Old Town and for $5 per adult (15 and over) you could tour the two former fortresses. We probably were there 90 minutes exploring before leaving to look at the rest of Old Town. We loved it. Easy to walk.
