We leave out of Charleston, SC in September. What is your favorite, hidden gem for eating? Looking for something different that the regular box restaurants and great prices. We are open-minded and adventurous with trying new things. We are staying downtown on East Bay, near Market, so if you have something within walking distance that would be superb! Thanks in advance!
Your favorite hidden eatery in Charleston, SC?
We LOVED Eli's Table (Meeting St.) and Poogan's Porch (Queen St. which runs off Meeting St. and is around the corner from Eli's. There is a public parking garage right across the street from Poogan's.
We were in town for a wedding so our time was pretty much occupied with celebration-related events but we got ourselves around Meeting St. I would say that these were within walking distance if I'm not mistaken. Be sure to make reservations!
Thanks Cruising CM! I will look into the two you posted. We frequent Charleston often, but have gotten into an eating exploration rut. They are indeed walking distance for us and walking off a few calories is always a plus.
If you go back to Charleston, try High Cotton if you want fancy and pricey, Jestine's for down home affordable Southern cooking and Tsumani for tasty sushi.
Hominy Grill...was featured on Man vs. Food. Good food, good atmosphere. Try the "Big Nasty". Also, we absolutely love Jacks Cosmic Dogs! It's on the way to Folly Beach, right there on the main hwy. Just a few min. from Charleston. You can get hot dogs in many different variations. Also loved Virginia's on King. Breakfast/brunch was great!!
