Would you feel safe in Castries, St Lucia?

After several crimes against cruise passengers, NCL stopped sailing there in 2012.  Local officials are doing little to fix the situation. Even locals feel unsafe in public areas.  Do you feel safe traveling here?

I don't think we have been to St. Lucia in quite some time but we felt quite safe there when we visited prior to 2012.

I would feel as safe there as anywhere else. It is not the worst of the ports. I believe the ports in the Bahamas are the least safe yet no one thinks to ask about those. Unfortunately many places throughout the world these days can be considered not safe.

I would feel as safe there as any port no place is 100 % safe even if we feel safe on vacations.  I can remember getting lost on the freeway in Honolulu and ended up in an area I knew I had to get out of quickly,   Just as a tourist visiting Los Angeles needs to know what areas to stay out of.  That's why I tend to book excursions.

I have beeno to to St Lucia several years ago and felt safe.  Recently there have been incidents involving cruise passengers serious enough for NCL is stopping calling there. I honk that it is the attitude of officials there that is disturbing.
