Wine Tasting on Board
On my last cruise I attended around four complimentary wine tasting events in the MDR. The wines were all good but pricey. We never ordered bottles of any of them afterwards. Have any of you attended a wine tasting and later ordered a bottle of what you tasted?

Yes, On both Princess cruises we took, we had attended the wine tastings. We arranged to have the wine for dinners in the MDR and pre-ordered food to match the wines. We had a great dinner and even attend wine tastings here in Edmonton when we can.
I got a complimentary wine tasting class on a cruise. I wasn't a very good student, because I couldn't separate the flavors. They all tasted like wine.
I did taste one I really liked and ordered a bottle.
We attended a wine pairing on one of our Carnival cruises and truly found it educational. We didn't buy any wines then, but took notes and have purchased some of them since at home.
Never had the opportunity but would certainly try. I do love a good glass/bottle of wine.
Yes, we have attended a lot of them on Princess. I enjoy them very much, especially the talk about each wine given by various officers and members of the crew. As Elites we get invitations to these, complimentary sometimes, but have paid for them a few times.
One thing I don’t like about them on Princess, as well as the other lines, is that they take place too early in the afternoon. I can see their problem in that 4:00 P.M. is about the latest they can spare their staff to put them on though.
Although I buy quite a bit of wine each cruise from the ship’s stores, I never have bought a bottle yet as a result of the wine tasting events. Their main sales thrust seems to be getting guests to purchase from the duty free to take home later.
I did one, but they are paid events. Sampled 4 wines, had some cheese with it, learned some info, but was never pushed to buy the wine. This was RCI, so I think they figured the price of admission was enough.
On Princess i get the complimentary wine tasting and i always attend. I have attented paid eating on Holland and Princess if the wines they are pouring interest me.
I have had free wine tasting on Celebrity. I'm always up to taste wine I did not buy any of the ones I tasted on the ship. On a wine tasting excursion I did buy some bottles to take home with me.
DW is a wine person so she sometimes will go on a lark or to kill some time.
