Why is the deposit higher for VIFP's?

I was just looking my girls cruise in April preparing to pay the deposit and found that if I don't enter my VIFP # the deposit is currently $49 per person. However if I do add it, the deposit is $250+. This seems a bit backwards to me.

Is the cruise rate lower? Sometimes you can have one benefit or another. To get the best deal. I would call Carnival. You may get the lower deposit or the lower cost or OBC (on board credit) or whatever but not a combination of any of them. If nothing else, they can explain the problem. Please, come back to us with the answer.

I just checked the Booking Engine on Carnival, and it is a reduced deposit based on booking Early Saver fare.

Smart move on Carnival's part since some folks book with the Early Saver lower deposit (of which a portion is non-refundable, and the rest of deposit can only be used as future cruise credit for ES fare) and then decide they want to switch or cancel the cruise. Easy profit for Carnival Surprised

Maybe the VIFP really means vacationing ignorant fat people, as far as Carnival is concerned.

Hmmm. Not quite sure how you mean that. Do you not like Carnival? I actually had a great time and other than being a vacationing person, the rest does not apply to me. Can you explain?

Ummm let's see. Nope, not really a huge fan of Carnival. Other than that, my post was a joke. Don't over think it. I'm not even sure what VIFP stands for. But if you think the " I " stands for Important, think again. I could have used the word impotent .

There is a certain type of crowd you're more likely to see on Carnival than you'll see on other cruise lines. I've been on Carnival twice as well as other lines and enjoyed the cruises. But there are distinct differences inside a Carnival ship than others and it's not all bad. I've met lots of great people on Carnival.

Bak likes to clown around like some of us others do. I knew he was joking.

Very Important Fun People

KLBway, like AuntPinkie and GrandmaJo mentioned, there are a variety of stipulations when you book a cruise with the reduced deposit, and for the different rates they offer, so please call to find out for sure.

By the way, we've only cruised on Carnival and we love the cruise line - haven't had one complaint in 5 cruises.

I understand your position. However, you never know who you could possibly be insulting based on a comment like that. I have no probably anyone clowning around however that could have been taken so many ways. New people aren't going to necessarily know and someone is joking around being that they are new. I was actually looking for some pertinent information in this question versus a sarcastic response.

Thank for commenting to... Clear that up.
