Why do people who love Carnival......

why do people who love Carnival, tell everyone else how bad all the other lines are ?

Maybe it's me, but I see a lot of posts from people who absolutely love Carnival, come onto a site, and tell everyone how bad every other line is. Phrases like, I'm going back to Carnival or I'll never sail xxxxxx again, or, we tried xxxxline, and we will never sail them again. I just don't get it. I think when Carnival lovers try a different line, they have a preconceived notion of how bad it's going to be. They tell themselves they are going to have a miserable time. Hey, not every ship is a party ship. People used to bash NCL for having so many alternate dining areas, with a charge. Guess what ? They all do that now. People, myself included, dext the nickel and dimeing on Norwegian. But it's up to me if I want to be nickel and dimed. How many times is Carnival going to change their menu ? But hey, if you want to go on vacation and eat meatloaf, fine. I prefer the NY strip in the steakhouse.

Open yourselves up, and go in with an open mind when trying something new. You'll have a better experience overall.

We like Carnival as it is close to where we live(near Galveston). The ship does what the others do float has food and shows. The cruise critics says Carnival is the Wal mart of the cruise industry. We shop at wal mart.nuff said. We aren;t gonna pay an extra 2 grand for a Disney ship when both are in Cozumel at the same time. We are too old for Disney. We will stay with carnival as we are platinum working on diamond.

None of us know it all. Cruising is always a learning experience. But ask whatever you want. Someone here probably has an answer. Possibly even the one you are looking for.

This is my 2nd Cruise. Did Carnival Valor last year and doing Carnival Vista in May. I would like to try other cruise lines in the future but for now Carnival is in our budget. Yes, on the ship there are places that you get that party atmosphere, but there are other places that you can find out of the way spots that are relaxing and enjoyable. Carnival works for me because I expect only the bare minimum and the rest is like gravy to me.

You are the one making your cruise happen, you decide to plan your day, go where you want.

The thing that you have to remember is that a cruise is what you make it, not what others are going to make it, yes there are people out there that want to be pampered, there are people wanting the best, that they are expecting it.

I look at it this way a cruise is a part of life. you do your thing same as on land, if you expect that you might get more than you bargain for. Cruising is a time for relaxation and fun for me. I go because it would cost me the same as a land vacation and not having to decide about driving time and picking and choosing hotels and restaurants.

I know I'll enjoy my self at all of the places I visit because I plan and live in the moment, doing what I want, not what everyone tells me that I should do. Be yourself, ask questions, do thing your way, enjoy and have fun.(Oh, now I get off my soapbox)

Ok even though its my 2nd cruise I do have lots of questions, but I am not a know it all, just trying to help people out and my self too... so do your own thing, check out other web sites, cruise lines, they can only help you, this forum is great..

Happy Cruising

I don't have a problem checking e mails if someone is sick or whatever. My complaint, is the person who checks every other hour, or more. Why did you even bother taking a cruise, if all you can do is worry about work ? And these kids that spend the entire day on their tablets Sad. I can only assume this is the way they are at home, so, what is the point of being on a ship ? I honestly believe most people would rather Google how to make rum, than see it being made in a factory. I'm sure there are YT vids on the factories though.

One of the things we used to look forward to, was meeting new people over meals. Now, we seldom meet anyone new. They seat us as a couple at most meals. The exception is breakfast. The only time we even speak to anyone else, is when we ask, " are you leaving the table?". Sometimes at the buffet area well strike up a conversation with someone. But sometimes people look so, beaten down. If we sit down, we might say, hi, enjoying the cruise ? And they look at us as if we have two heads. They just grunt and continue to shovel food into their mouths. Sometimes we get people who want to talk. And we have a great time.

We travel mostly NCL because they leave year round from NY. They are convenient for us. We do like them, a lot. Do we love Norwegian ? Well, we love HAL. We really enjoyed Princess and Celebrity. I've never had a bad time on Norwegian. Seldom have any issues. And when we do, it's handled immediately by the staff. It could be boredom. We end up doing the same three or four itineraries, but that's the trade off for convenience. We enjoy the ships and sea days. Thankfully. We can't wait to be able to finally do Alaska, Europe, etc.

I agree - cruise the line you love.

But I would also encourage people to try out other lines. Your favorite (only) line may satisfy you, but take a chance and see what other lines have to offer -- you may otherwise be missing out on a great experience.

I have tried three lines (Carnival, Princess and Celebrity), and found two of those to be fantastic (the third was great, but "something" was off to the point that I am reluctant to go again. I can't really put my finger on what it was, but I just couldn't settle in).

I also plan to try out two other lines in the not too distant future (RCCL and NCL, possibly HAL also). I just wish that more lines (and itineraries) were offered out of Texas.

I would love to try a river cruise, paddlewheel cruise and Windjammer type cruise, as well as some of the premium lines, but they are outside my budget.

I enjoy trying all different ships and cruise lines. I enjoy myself when I travel on Carnival. I also enjoy myself on Celebrity, Holland America, MSC, Princess, Norwegian, RCCL, too. River cruise are fun too. Even went on a paddleboat cruise last fall. You can't expect every cruise to be perfect. Mistakes happen. If someone loves Carnival and is disappointed in other cruise lines, then they should go back to Carnival. They probably love the party atmosphere. Everyone is different in what they like.

But only if you have been sea sick ;)

I finally reached the point I get a free drink*

*After 5:00 on the last night of the cruise. Void where prohibited. Offer valid on most cruises.

Carnival is the only cruise line we have cruised on and we love it so why look elsewhere. We cruise aboard the Pride on 15 January 2017 and will be turning Platinum...whoop-whoop free laundry.

Cheers and happy cruising!

We are looking at RC or NCL in 2018, that one comment you made Bennett sure does hit me hard, not knocking what you said, but when I am on the cruise I try to hit the email and courses for one quick burst in the mornings or evenings so I will not fall victim to that song,,,! I am looking forward to trying out other lines!
