Which Cruise Ships Have the Best Buffets?

We read a lot of complaints recently about poor food at the buffet restaurants on cruise lines. Are all the buffets poor?   Who does have the best buffet?  Well here is one site's listing of the best buffets on ships.  See if you agree.

The Crown Princess had fabulous buffet options for the entire 28 day trip. We dined there instead of MDR quite a few times.

I thought the dinner buffet on Celebrity was good.   On the transatlantic we had late dinner and would go to the dinner buffet at about 5 for a snack.   They had fresh Sushi out every night,  only about 4 to 6 kinds,  but it was good.

We only cruise on three lines, HAL, Princess and Regent. As far as I'm concerned the buffets on all three are pretty close to equal except the crowding is less and the service much better on Regent than the other two.

For what its worth, Berlitz in their "How the major cruise lines score on cuisine" and in their "Buffets/informal dining" category---list them this way. # 1 is a tie, Celebrity and Cunard--# 2 Princess---# 3 MSC---# 4 is a tie NCL and HAL---# 5 P&O Cruises---# 6 Carnival Cruise Lines---# 7 Royal Caribbean International----# 8 Costa Cruises----# 9 Star Cruises

Buffet reviews are always subjective. On Princess when we went to Hawaii, after arrival in the islands the fresh fruit was incredible, both in selection and presentation. On the Island Princess through Panama,  No problem at all, and I have mentioned before a great egg station. On NCL a great variety and Presentation.

But also, we have expectations for  buffets, and feeding a servicing a few thousand people in a period on time will have an effect on the quality of the food and service. This happens everywhere. So I won't pick on a cruise line for somewhat cold food at one station, or lack of fresh juice at another, but I will rate the overall experience and so far have found all efforts to be very satisfactory.

I have sailed on the Crown Princess and enjoyed the buffet.  It was the only Princess cruise that we have taken.

I suppose that everyone might have their own list of the best buffets.

I haven't cruised on Costa recently mostly because I was dissatisfied with the food the last time I cruised with them.

Having only 3 years ago taken up cruising, we have only been on the NCL Pearl and Jade. The buffets on both ships were absolutely superb and we actually spent more time there than the MDR's as obviously you can choose what you want and have more of the same if you want to. What better place also than to have 2 sweets? Looking forward to the buffet on the Epic next year
