When is the earliest you've packed for a cruise.

Been very slow around here lately. I've been lurking but not posting much. So here's a question to try and get something going:

The September 22, 2018 "AuntPinkie Cruise" is in two months. I have my luggage out and tomorrow I'm going to start throwing things into it for the cruise.

So when is the earliest you've packed for a cruise? Two months, 6 months, 12 months?????

And on the reverse side, when it the latest you've packed for a cruise? The day before? The same day?????

Normally a month prior.

We cruise in the winter so its easy to set summer cruise clothes aside about a month before we leave. The clothes actually go into the suitcase the week prior.

I tend to pack the night before a trip, early for me is the day before.

The last cruise we went on was our first and when I found out about it, it was supposed to be a surprise, I started packing then, so 10 months prior, LOL! Big Smile

Normally packing begins a few days before departure.

Latest: about 2 hours before leaving. Flights had been canceled but the ash cloud shifted and our flights were back on at the last minute.

Earliest: a little over a week. Got off one cruise in Port Canaveral and drove right to Fort Lauderdale for another cruise without going home. Suitcase for second cruise was packed before first cruise and waiting in the trunk.

Actually putting things in the suitcase, the night before we leave the house. I start getting clothes lined-up and ready 2-4 weeks prior. I use the guest bedroom and set all the things I'd like to take, then slowly whittle down the amount until I about a quarter of what I originally set out.

Usually the evening before we leave the house.

I usually bring the suitcases up from the basement a month before embarkation. Then I start throwing stuff in that I don't want to forget in the days leading up to the big day. I then take everything out I've been throwing in for the past month and pack it neatly the night before walking out the door to the airport.

For a longer cruise I might start packing a week ahead of time. For a short cruise of 7 day I would start 5 days ahead of time. I use a list so packing is easy.

That will depend on the level of my lack of being on a ship. If desperate it starts mentally as soon as I have booked. Then i might stage an item or 3 a month before making sure everything is close to hand and then the actual throw it in the suitcase day to day and a half before leaving home.
