What would you include in an ultimate cruise playlist?

I was listening to the Soundscapes Music Channel this morning. I often find that background music helps me write more fluidly (npi). A specific selection caught my attention enough that I looked up from my work to see the particulars... "Silver Waters" by Ken Stover on a release entitled "Cruisers 1.0". As you might imagine that piqued my interest further.

A quick web search uncovered that the release did not have a specific relationship to cruising as we think of it, but it got me to thinking about what music I would include in an ultimate cruise play list.

So, I thought it would be interesting to throw out the question...

What song(s) would you include in an ultimate cruise playlist?

What came to my mind first was Jamie Cullum "All at Sea".  If you don't know this one, it's available on You Tube for a listen.  Love the melody and though I am not extremely introverted, I do cruise to get away from the day-to-day stresses and this song captures that spirit, especially as it starts off.

It may be cliché, but I would go for any Jimmy Buffet, Beach Boys, and Island Reggae.

I don't think it's cliche at all... but I do think it depends on where the cruise is heading.  For instance, we departed LA for the HI and SoPac.  I was good with listening to latin rhythms for the first day or so, but at some point the ship's sound track should have shifted to Hawaiian and Polynesian-themed tunes.

It would be nice if the musical director (Cruise Director?) was smart enough to match the music with the cruiseHappy.

It's true that you cannot please everybody, but the ship should theme itself after the itinerary (Hawaiian music for Hawaiian cruises, Mediterranean music for those cruises, and Latin or Island music for the Caribbean). Might be nice to theme some of the MDR selections also. This cold provide for a more immersive experience.

I would include "Runaway" by Jamiroquai, "I Remember" by DEADMAU5, "Woman" Maroon 5 and "HOT HOT HOT! by Buster Pointdexter.

Great to see additions to this thread.  I've been away from non-essential keyboard activity for the past week; one of our beloved cats, Tang, got very sick suddenly and passed.  I'm still very sad about it but decided to check in here as I sip this morning's java.

Sloop John B - Beach Boys

Octopuses Garden - The Beatles (Cirque version)

Spirits Having Flown - The Bee Gees

None of these is specific to cruising but love the soft, relaxing vibe.

Silence.

Wow... that was helpful. Not sure it's realistic.

Seriously, maybe cruising is not the best option for your vacation?

Happy sails regardless.

Perhaps he enjoys the solitude of the wide open ocean without a DJ forcing noise into his ears at 150 decibels? (I'm pointing at you, Carnival Big Smile)

I would have tended to agree with him on my last cruise -- on an inside deck lounge, the music was so loud I retreated into the nearby Red Frog Pub. The music from the band was still too loud. (I gave up and went to the Piano bar).
